Research progress in the synthesis and biological application of quantum dots

Abstract

Quantum dots are an excellent choice for biomedical applications due to their special optical properties and quantum confinement effects. This paper reviews the research and application progress of several quantum dots in the biomedical field in recent years. Firstly, the advantages of quantum dots are explained, and then the potential toxic effects of quantum dots are explained, especially the harm to human health, which limits the expansion of applications of quantum dots. The variety of quantum dots has produced many synthesis methods, and the selection of a reasonable preparation strategy is beneficial to the performance of quantum dots. We selected several different quantum dots, including perovskite quantum dots, molybdenum disulfide quantum dots, zinc oxide quantum dots, carbon quantum dots and graphene quantum dots, and summarized the research on imaging, sensing, drug delivery and therapy, hoping to play a certain reference role and lay a foundation for future clinical application.
