Rational synthesis of Pt-based dandelion-like yolk–shell nanoparticles with enhanced oxygen reduction properties

Abstract

The regulation of the composition and architecture of Pt-based noble metal materials is significantly important for the preparation of high-performance oxygen reduction electrocatalysts. In this work, Pd@PtPd dandelion-like yolk–shell nanoparticles (Pd@PtPd DYSNs) were rationally fabricated by a simple template method. On account of the unique structure and the admirable match of Pt and Pd, the prepared Pd@PtPd DYSNs exhibit dramatically enhanced oxygen reduction activity and stability compared with PtPd dandelion-like hollow nanoparticles (PtPd DHNs) and commercial Pt/C. The present synthetic strategy contributes to lowering cost and improving catalytic performance, which is of great significance for the development of Pt-based catalysts with advanced properties.
