In the presence of AlCl3 the complex [(η-C5Me4CH2Cl)Ru(CO)2Cl]1 readily acts as an electrophile towards aromatic hydrocarbons (ArH = C6H6, C6H5Me, C6H4Me2) giving [(η-C5Me4CH2Ar)Ru(CO)2Cl]; the structure of [{η-C5Me4CH2(C6H3Me2-2,4)}Ru(CO)2Cl] is determined by X-ray methods.
