Efficient catalytic vicinal diamination of arylene diimides

Abstract

The copper(II)-catalyzed direct amination of perylene diimides (PDIs) and naphthalene diimides (NDIs) with 1,2-diamino compounds leads to vicinal diaminated dyes that are not accessible by the classical route for the amino functionalization via bromination and nucleophilic substitution.
