Cumulene complexes of transition metals. Part I. Hexacarbonyldi-iron complexes

Abstract

Reactions of Ar2C[double bond, length half m-dash]CBr2 and XR2C·C[triple bond, length half m-dash]C·CR2X with iron carbonyls or carbonylates give hexacarbonyldi-iron complexes of butatrienes. The same complexes are also obtained from the reactions of butatrienes with iron carbonyls, thus supporting their formulation. The structures are proposed for compounds of formulæ C34H20Fe2O6, C9H8FeO5, and C15H10Fe2O7, which are also produced in these reactions.
