Synthetic pathways to create asymmetric center at C1 position of 1-substituted-tetrahydro-β-carbolines – a review

Chiral 1-substituted-THβC can be synthesized from L-tryptophan or tryptamine by Pictet–Spengler reaction and chiral auxiliary; also from substituted-DHβC by ATH reaction with chiral catalysts, asymmetric addition reaction, and enzymatic catalysis.

New phenanthrenequinones from Cymbidium ensifolium roots and their anti-inflammatory activity on lipopolysaccharide-activated BV2 microglial cells

The roots of Cymbidium ensifolium yielded a total of 17 compounds, comprising two new compounds (1–2), one new natural product (3), and 14 known compounds (4–17).

Trapping of thermally generated ortho- and para-quinone methides by imidazoles and pyrazoles: a simple route to green synthesis of benzopyrone-azole hybrids and their evaluation as α-glucosidase inhibitors

We demonstrate a protocol for the synthesis of benzopyrone-azole hybrids in the reaction of pyrazoles and (benz)imidazole with phenolic Mannich bases. The target compounds were studied as inhibitors of α-glucosidase.

Antiviral activity of sulphated specialized metabolites from sea urchin Clypeaster humilis: in vitro and in silico studies

Chemical analyses of the sea urchin Clypeaster humilis yielded twelve compounds including; a new sulfonic acid derivative (7R) tridec-1-en-7-yl hydrogen sulphate (1), pyridine-3-yl methane sulfonate (2), boldine (12), and nine known compounds (3–11).

Synthesis, characterization, and inhibition effects of a novel eugenol derivative bearing pyrrole functionalities on the corrosion of mild steel in a HCl acid solution

In this work, eugenol was synthetically modified to generate a novel heterocyclic compound. Its structure was characterized by NMR, IR, and X-ray diffraction. The findings of the electrochemical study corroborated these results.
