A point of care sensor for detection of alcohols, aldehydes and esters in urinary metabolites of war veterans injured by sulfur mustard

To discriminate between different alcoholic, aldehyde, and ester species in urine samples of war veterans who exposed with sulfur mustard with healthy people, a paper-based colorimetric sensor array is introduced.

Safety evaluation of Plukenetia volubilis seeds: a metabolomic profiling and network toxicology approach

The study indicated the absence of saponins, the presence of phytosterols and trigonellin (a pyridine alkaloid), and a low safety risk related to saponin and alkaloid content in the Sacha Inchi seeds.

Optimizing workflow efficiency for analyzing low molecular weight endogenous peptides in colostrum

A novel approach to extract EPs from colostrum using peptide extraction methods combined with ultracentrifugation was developed. Over 3200 EPs were extracted from bovine colostrum enabling the identification of less abundant proteins and peptides.

Characterization of dolomite and calcite microcalcifications in human breast tissue

Microcalcifications within minimally processed tissue sections from breast cancer patients were analyzed. Most of these microcalcifications were calcite and dolomite crystals, with dolomite being observed in tumorous tissue for the first time.

A new non-destructive method to decipher the origin of organic matter in fossils using Raman spectroscopy

We demonstrate that Raman spectroscopy, coupled with spectral interrogation and multivariate statistical analysis, can be used to discriminate among diverse kerogen-like biosignatures. Our approach can shed new light on the origin of fossil organics.
