Measurements of water content and D/H ratio in apatite and silicate glasses using a NanoSIMS 50L

Apatite and silicate glasses share the same water content calibration curves in isotope modes where water was determined from the H intensity regardless of multicollection or peak jumping. In contrast, the slope of apatite significantly differs from that of silicate glasses in element mode where OH was counted for the water content.

Further investigation into ICP-induced elemental fractionation in LA-ICP-MS using a local aerosol extraction strategy

The increased size of aerosol agglomerates or particles because of the reduced carrier gas velocity on the ablation site deteriorates the vaporization of aerosol particles in ICP, which induces similar elemental fractionation to laser ablation-induced fractionation.

Application of spatial confinement for gas analysis using laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy to improve signal stability

Bowl-shaped confinement was designed to increase signal stability for gas analysis. With normalization over the whole spectral area to alleviate the absorbed energy difference, our pulse-to-pulse RSDs for nitrogen and oxygen can reach 2.97% and 3.94% respectively, making LIBS analysis of gaseous samples more reliable.
