About this collection

We are delighted to share with you a selection of the papers which will be presented at our Faraday Discussion on Carbon Capture and Storage taking place in Sheffield, UK in July 2016. More information about the event may be found here: http://rsc.li/ccs-fd2016. Additional articles will be added to the collection as they are published. The final versions of all the articles presented and record of the live discussions will be published after the event.

Global power generation is predicted to continue to depend heavily on coal-fired power plants, while industrial processes such as cement and iron production intrinsically emit CO2. In this context carbon capture and storage is a “must develop” technology for reducing carbon emissions. This Faraday Discussion covers topics from new potential carbon capture materials and processes, to carbon dioxide utilisation from both fundamental and applied perspectives.
