The influence of alkaline earth ions on the structural organization of acetone probed by the noncoincidence effect of the ν(C[double bond, length as m-dash]O) band: experimental and quantum chemical results

The large and negative noncoincidence effect of the additional ν(C[double bond, length as m-dash]O) Raman band in acetone electrolytic solutions reflects the structural organization of solvent molecules clustering around the M2+ ion.

Silver nanoparticles behave as hydrophobic solutes towards the liquid water structure in the interaction shell. A Raman study in the O–H stretching region

Raman spectra of O–H stretching in aqueous silver colloids reveal weak interactions perturbing the hydration shell hydrogen-bond ordering of the solvent.

About this collection

This web-based theme issue showcases a collection of papers which were submitted following the XXI Italian national meeting on Raman spectroscopy and non-linear optical effects (GNSR 2009) held in Milan in February. The issue has been Guest Edited by Professor Matteo Tommasini and Professor Chiara Castiglioni at Politecnico di Milano. At the meeting, the Italian raman spectroscopists group (GNSR) formally decided to join the Società Chimica Italiana (Italian chemical society). Società Chimica Italiana is one of PCCP's 16 Owner Societies. All PCCP Owner Societies receive a royalty every time the journal publishes an article by a researcher based in the Owner Society's country. Earlier this year PCCP published a special celebratory issue to highlight the recent work of Italian physical chemists in celebration of the Società Chimica Italiana 100 year anniversary, which can be viewed via the link at the bottom of the page. Links to all the articles from this web theme issue can be found below. This list will be updated once new articles are published, so please come back and view it again.
