Oxalatocuprate(ii) hexaammincobalt(iii) as a precursor of metastable solid solutions in the Co–Cu system†
Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of the double complex salts [Co(NH3)6]2[Cu(C2O4)2]3·4H2O and [Co(NH3)6]2[Cu(C2O4)2]3·6H2O was carried out. The process of thermal decomposition of synthesized compounds in reducing and inert atmospheres was studied with determination of the released gases composition, as well as intermediate and final decomposition products by ex situ XRD. The thermal decomposition of complex salts in reducing and inert atmospheres was studied by in situ powder X-ray diffraction on a laboratory diffractometer. The possibility of the formation of metastable solid solutions in the Co–Cu system with a maximum copper content up to 37 at% was demonstrated.
