Doping dependent dual-response mechanoluminescence in ZnGa2O4†
Abstract
Dual-response mechanoluminescence (ML) enables light emission upon both the application and withdrawal of mechanical stress, which can provide novel opportunities for stress-sensing. Herein, we present the ML performance of doped ZnGa2O4–PDMS composites with a focus on the dual-response ML behavior upon the dynamic stretching–releasing cycle. Specifically, it was found that the dual-response ML behavior of ZnGa2O4 is doping dependent, which was further proved to be related to doping induced trap distribution. Finally, ZnGa2O4:Mn/PDMS with dual-response ML was used as an electronic skin to demonstrate its unique potential for stress-sensing applications.
