Ammonia formation by reduction of nitrogen monoxide with carbon monoxide using copper-deposited ceria in the presence of water

Abstract

Nitrogen monoxide (NO) conversion to ammonia (NH3) over copper (Cu) catalysts was studied. Above 150 °C, Cu/CeO2 demonstrated high NH3 selectivity for the NO–CO–H2O reaction, whereas NH3 formation in the NO–H2 reaction was negligible at this temperature. For the NO conversion to NH3, the enhancement of water–gas shift reaction was proposed to be effective.
