A fully noble-metal-free electrocatalyst based on a cobalt-polyoxometalate immobilized in a layered double hydroxide for water oxidation at neutral pH

Abstract

A polyoxometalate (POM)-based immobilized catalyst [PCoW11O39]5−/Tris-LDH, devoid of any noble metal, was developed as an efficient and durable electrocatalyst for water oxidation at neutral pH. Multiple lines of experimental evidence confirmed that loading of [PCoW11O39]5− onto the Tris-LDH can promote the charge-transfer process, leading to a reformative electrocatalytic performance of [PCoW11O39]5−.
