Recent advances in iridium-catalyzed enantioselective allylic substitution using phosphoramidite-alkene ligands

Abstract

Enantioselective allylic substitution is one of the most important and reliable reactions for the synthesis of chiral building blocks. While various transition metal catalysts have been studied for use in enantioselective allylic substitution, the advances in Ir catalysts within the past few years have been remarkable. This mini-review focuses on the advances in Ir-catalyzed enantioselective allylic substitution with a phosphoramidite-alkene ligand since 2018. Ir/phosphoramidite-alkene catalysts are efficient in both carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bond formation to give important chiral building blocks in excellent enantioselectivities. Therefore, Ir-catalyzed enantioselective allylic substitution offers a powerful tool for the asymmetric synthesis of heterocycles.
