A facile new modified method for the preparation of a new cerium-doped lanthanium cuperate perovskite energy storage system using nanotechnology
Abstract
A defect crystalline structure perovskite cerium doped-lanthanum cuperate (nanoparticles, NPs) solid-state sample has been prepared with the stoichiometric formula La2−xCexCuO4NPs, abbreviated as LCCO (NPs), where x represents the doping percent of cerium(IV) ion (x = 0.012 weight percent). The La2CuO4 matrix was doped with 0.012% cerium oxide (CeO2), forming a homogenous solid solution at a relatively low temperature of 800 °C. A concentration of 2% by weight of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuONPs) enhanced the solubility of lanthanum oxide (LaO2) and cerium oxide (CeO2) in each other and catalyzed the rate of the formation of the solid solution of the cerium-doped lanthanum cuperate perovskite sample. The sample showed a high Curie temperature (TC) of 98 K, at which this ferroelectric crystal undergoes a phase transition upon heating due to the change in the physical and electrical properties of the crystal. Both the thermal conductivity and electrical resistivity varied nonlinearly with the applied temperature in the absence of the magnetic field. Both the thermal conductivity and the electrical resistivity showed a sharp maximum peak at the Curie temperature. The sample showed excellent dielectric properties with neglectable dielectric loss; hence, this perovskite sample can be recommended for use in energy storage systems, such as solar cells, solar ponds, and thermal collectors. All the previous studies were limited to the preparation of perovskites with no cerium doping, and the evaluation of the characteristics of the prepared samples was inadequate. This study presents the first method for the successful preparation of ternary perovskite samples using CuO NPs that achieved high ferroelectric characteristics and efficient energy storage capacity.
