Preparation of photostable near-infrared luminescent glass with quantum dot-layered double hydroxide composites

Abstract

A bright and photostable near-infrared (NIR) emitting quantum dot (QD) glass was prepared. The solidification of PbS/CdS core/shell QD-layered double hydroxide (LDH) composites in an arsenic trisulfide glass matrix for >200 h under continuous ultraviolet irradiation produced a photostable NIR-emitting glass. The QD-LDH glass could be successfully applied to optical fibers for down-conversion and can be used for promising potential applications such as optical fiber amplifiers.
