Synthesis of a bimetallic platinum–tungsten complex with a bridging µ-diboranyl–oxycarbyne moiety

Abstract

The novel bimetallic µ-diboranyl–oxycarbyne bridged platinum–tungsten complex [W{η1,µ-CO-B(NMe2)-B(NMe2)-(η5-C5H4)}(CO)2{Pt(PPh3)2}] (W–Pt) (3) has been synthesised by a two-step reaction, starting from the dilithiated half-sandwich compound Li[W(η5-C5H4Li)(CO)3] (1) via the ansa-diboranyl–oxycarbyne tungsten complex [W{η1-CO-B(NMe2)B(NMe2)(η5-C5H4)}(OC)2] (2) by use of stoichiometric amounts of B2(NMe2)2Br2 and [Pt(η2-C2H4)(PPh3)2], respectively.
