The crystallisation and packing of [Cr(C2O4Ag(PPh3)2)3] (Ph3P/Ph3PO) (MeNO2)4

Abstract

We describe the syntheses of Ag3(PPh3)9[Cr(ox)3] and Ag3(PPh3)6[Cr(ox)3] (ox2− = oxalate dianion) and the crystal structure of [Cr(C2O4Ag(PPh3)2)3]·(Ph3P)0.73·(Ph3PO)0.27·(MeNO2)4 obtained when Ag3(PPh3)9[Cr(ox)3] is crystallised from nitromethane/CH2Cl2. This crystal is ineffectively packed and does not utilise the intermolecular multiple phenyl embraces present in the crystal structures of related compounds.
