Synthetic methods
Part (i) Free-radical reactions
Abstract
This year has seen significant developments in new methodology for radical chemistry; the range of radical precursors and acceptors has been expanded, permitting new structural motifs to be readily accessed. In keeping with other sub-disciplines of organic chemistry, the use of chiral organic molecules to induce enantioselectivity is being explored. Somewhat ironically, the most important advance sees the use of transition metals for the catalytic generation of alkyl radicals.
