Macrocyclic coordination chemistry
Abstract
Highlights for 2005 include the characterisation of a number of unusual oxidation state transition metal compounds, such as non-heme Fe(V) and a stable Co(I) species. These compounds can be of particular relevance to oxidation states encountered in biochemical pathways. Another highlight is the exciting study involving protein crystallography that was carried out to determine the first structural example of a cyclam type complex interacting with the protein lysozyme. There have also been many advances in the areas of functional MRI agents and luminescent compounds for cellular sensing.
