Critical dilution

Abstract

The critical dilution can be derived in a natural fashion from gel point theory. Theoretically, the existence of the critical dilution, γ_c, appears almost obvious. In contrast, experimentally, there has been much confusion as to whether the critical dilution occurs or not. To resolve this question, we re-examine the gelation theory developed in our laboratory in light of the Matejka–Dusek experiments, the result giving a confirmation of the soundness of the concept of critical dilution.
