Syntheses and molecular structure of organo-group 13 metal carbene complexes

Abstract

Trimethylaluminium or trimethylgallium reacts with 1,3-diisopropyl-4,5-dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene 1 to afford the first organo-group 13 metal carbenes 2 (M = Al 2a, Ga 2b), which are characterized by elemental analyses, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy, and single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
