The synthesis of η2-thioketenyl complexes of molybdenum and tungsten

Abstract

The complexes [M(η²-OCCR)(CO)L(Tp)][M = Mo, W; L = P(OMe)₃, PMe₂Ph, PPh₃; R = C₆H₄Me-4; Tp = hydrotris(pyrazol-1-yl)borate] are obtained from [M(CR)(CO)₂(Tp)] and L under photolysis and these react with Lawesson's reagent (S₂PC₆H₄OMe-4)₂ to provide thioketenyl complexes [M(η²-SCCR)(CO)L(Tp)] one example of which (M = W, L = PMe₂Ph) is also obtained from the reaction of [W(η²-ClCCR)Cl(CO)(Tp)] with NaSH in the presence of PMe₂Ph.
