6,7-Dimethylene-2,4-diphenylbicyclo[3.2.1]oct-3-en-2-yl anion. A test for the origin of the unusual properties of the bicyclo[3.2.1]octa-3,6-dien-2-yl anion

Abstract

On the basis of the 13C NMR spectra of the 6,7-dimethylene-2,4-diphenylbicyclo[3.2.1]oct-3-en-2-yl anion 12, which has been prepared in four steps from 2,4-diphenylbicyclo[3.2.1]octa-2,6-diene 7, and the 2,4-diphenylbicyclo[3.2.1]octa-3,6-dien-2-yl anion 11, it seems reasonable to ascribe a bishomoaromatic character to 11.
