Diastereoisomeric forms of ligand-bridged dimetallic diruthenium(II) and ruthenium(II)–osmium(II) species containing bidentate polypyridyl ligands

Abstract

A new general synthetic route is reported for dinuclear species of the type [(Lt)2RuLbRu(Lt′)2]4+ or [(Lt)2RuLbOs(Lt′)2]4+(Lt′ Lt′= bidentate polypyridyl ligands, Lt≠ Lt′; Lb= bridging ligand), together with the chromatographic separation and characterization of the diastereoisomeric pairs of the dimers.
