Tutorial review—Recent strategies in automated reaction rate based determinations

Abstract

The role of automation in kinetic methods of analysis is evaluated. Methodological approaches are dealt with in three groups according to the stage of the analytical process concerned: namely, sample preparation and transport, and mixing of reactants; signal acquisition; and data processing. Recent achievements in the automation of all three stages are discussed and compared with earlier alternatives in order to assess their performance.
