Topological investigations on association of alkanols. Excess volumes of acrylonitrile–alkanols (C1–C10) at 308.15 K

Abstract

Excess volumes, VE, of binary liquid mixtures of acrylonitrile with alkanols (C1–C10) have been determined by continuous dilution dilatometry at 308.15 K as a function of composition. The excess volumes are negative for acrylonitrile–methanol, both negative and positive for acrylonitrile–alkanols (C2–C5) and positive for acrylonitrile–alkanols (C6–C10). The VE data have been analysed by graph theory. The graph-theoretical connectivity parameters of the third degree give information regarding the state of the species in the pure phase as well as in the mixture.
