Synthesis of ruthenium–rhodium heterobimetallic complexes via ring-opening reactions of bidentate phosphine ligands; crystal structures of [Ru(C5H5)Cl{Ph2PC(CH2)PPh2}] and [(C5H5)Ru(µ-CO)2{µ-Ph2PC(CH2)PPh2}RhCl2]
Abstract
Treatment of [Ru(C5H5)Cl(dppen)]1[dppen = 1,1-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethene] and [Ru(C5H5)Cl(dppm)]2[dppm = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane] with [{RhCl(CO)2}2] leads to the immediate formation of the heterobimetallic complexes [(C5H5)Ru(µ-CO)2(µ-L2)RhCl2](L2= dppen 3 or dppm 4) in high yield. The structures of complexes 1 and 3 have been determined by X-ray diffraction.
