Conductivity and NMR study of ionic mobility in lithium oxide
Abstract
The self-diffusion of Li+ ions in the ionic conductor Li2O has been investigaed by 7Li NMR relaxation time and A.C. conductivity measurements. The NMR relaxation data have been fitted using an encounter model in order to obtain the mean jump time (τ) and thence the diffusion coefficient of 7Li ions [eqn (1)]. We have established that the mobile ions are Li+ and that the mechanism for their diffusion is most probably via cation vacancies.
