Unprecedented rearrangement of phosphino alkynes Ph2P(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)(R = Ph, Me) into bridging vinyl phosphido ligands PhP(CR[double bond, length half m-dash]CPhH) during the reaction with [PPh4][HFe3(CO)11]

Abstract

The reaction of Ph2P(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CR)(R = Ph, Me) with [PPh4][HFe3(CO)11] at 58 °C (R = Me) or 102 °C (R = Ph) leads to the formation of [PPh4][Fe3(CO)93-PhPCR[double bond, length half m-dash]CPhH)], the X-ray crystal structure of which has been determined for R = Me.
