The reaction of di-iodoacetylene with [Pd2Cl2(µ-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2]: formation of [Pd2Cl2(µ-σ-C[double bond, length half m-dash]CCl2)(µ-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2] and [Pdl2(Ph2PCH2PPh2)]

Abstract

The complex [Pd2Cl2(µ-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2] reacts with di-iodoacetylene to yield [Pdl2(PPh2CH2PPh2)] and [Pd2Cl2(µ-σ-C[double bond, length half m-dash]CCl2)(µ-Ph2PCH2PPh2)2], which have been characterized by spectroscopic methods and by X-ray crystallography; formation of the bridged dichlorovinylidene complex involves a formal 1,2-halide shift accompanied by C–l/Pd–Cl bond metathesis.
