Spectrofluorimetric determination of vanadium(V) in petroleum crudes and basic slag with Nuclear Fast Red
Abstract
A spectrofluorimetric method is described for the determination of vanadium(V), based on its oxidation reaction with Nuclear Fast Red in acidic medium. The fluorescence emission is monitored at 565 nm (wavelength of excitation, 464 nm) and the experimental variables and interferences in this determination have been studied. The detection limit is 5 ng ml–1 and the range of application is between 20 and 300 ng ml–1. The method has been applied to the determination of vanadium(V) in petroleum crudes and in a basic slag.
