High-performance liquid chromatographic separation and identification of alkylxanthate mixtures after derivatisation with dimeric cobalt dithiocarbamates

Abstract

A simple method for the separation and identification of alkylxanthates was developed. The xanthate mixtures were first reacted with Co2(Et2DTC)5BF4 to form the cobalt complexes Co(Et2DTC)2(RXAN)(where DTC = dithiocarbamate). The cobalt complexes were separated by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography and the components were identified from their relative retention times.
