A physicist's view on current questions in atomic spectrometry

Abstract

Simple considerations and elementary physics are used to address four questions raised in connection with current developments in analytical atomic spectrometry. How can we increase the speed of ETA-AAS? What are the limitations to sample introduction in ICP-AES, also with respect to solid samples? What are the merits of high-resolution ICP-AES? How can non-metals be determined directly?
