Synthesis of the alkoxo(hydrido)-clusters [Ru3(µ-H)(CO)10(µ-OR)][R = Me, Et, Prn, or Bun] catalysed by dinuclear carbonyl iron complexes

Abstract

The use of dinuclear carbonyl iron complexes, namely [Fe25-C5H5)2(CO)4] and [ Fe2(CO)4(PPh3)2(SMe)2], as catalysts in reactions of CO replacement by the weak nucleophilic molecules ROH (R = Me, Et, Prn, or Bun) allows the isolation of the novel series of derivatives [Ru3(µ-H)(CO)10(µ-OR)], previously inaccessible by thermal routes.
