Convenient synthesis of alkyl (Z)- and (E)-2,3-bis(trimethylstannyl)alk-2-enoates and N,N-dimethyl (E)-2,3-bis(trimethylstannyl)alk-2-enamides

Abstract

Palladium(0)-catalysed addition of (Me3Sn)2 to the α,β-acetylenic esters (1an) and amides (4ad) provides the (Z)-2,3-bis(trimethylstannyl)alk-2-enoates (2an) and the (E)-2,3-bis(trimethylstannyl)alk-2-enamides (6ad), respectively; thermolysis of (2ah) transforms these substances into the corresponding (E)-isomers (3ah).
