Structural and electronic properties of tetranuclear iron(III) pyridylamine complexes containing cofacial pairs of µ-oxo-bis(µ-acetato)iron(III) moieties. Models for met hemerythrins

Abstract

Structural characterization of an iron(III) complex of a hexadentate tetrakis(picolyl)diamine ligand reveals a novel tetranuclear structure in which two µ-oxo-bis(µ-acetato)-bridged {Fe2(O)(MeCO2)2L6}2+ cores are linked by aliphatic chains; the electronic structures of this complex and related complexes are similar to those of the met forms of hemerythrin.
