The correlation between tin-119 Mössbauer isomer shifts and atomic charges on tin in five-co-ordinated tin(IV) derivatives

Abstract

Tin-119 Mössbauer isomer shifts, δ, are correlated to partial atomic charges on tin, QSn, calculated through a valence state electronegativity equalization procedure, for a number of homologous series of five-co-ordinated SnIV and SnIVRn(n= 1–3) derivatives. Isostructural species are found to be generally described by a single correlation function. The use of δ/QSn correlations for structural assignments is proposed.
