Determination of metal ions by liquid chromatography incorporating dithiocarbamates in the eluent

Abstract

Dilute solutions of transition metal ions, including copper(II), cobalt(II), nickel(II), lead(II) and iron(III), can be determined using reversed-phase liquid chromatography on Hypersil ODS by direct injection into an eluent containing sodium diethyldithiocarbamate (0.05%m/V). The complexes formed are detected using a variable wavelength detector. The effects of reagent concentration, flow-rate and pH have been examined.
