Studies in terpenoid biosynthesis, Part 24. The formation of the carbon skeleton of the sesquiterpenoid, dihydrobotrydial
Abstract
The labelling and coupling patterns of dihydrobotrydial, biosynthesized from [1-13C]- and [1,2-13C2]-acetate and [4,5-13C2]mevalonate by the fungus, Botrytis cinerea, have been used to define the mode of formation of the carbon skeleton of the sesquiterpenoid from farnesyl pyrophosphate.
