Tetrahydroboride, BH 4, ions incorporated into alkali halide lattices. Inelastic neutron scattering studies

Abstract

In this paper we report the results of a study, by inelastic neutron scattering, of the librational and localized translational modes of the tetrahydroboride, BH4, ion incorporated at low concentrations in the potassium and rubidium halides. The data are used to calculate barriers to rotation and are compared with the librational data for the pure tetrahydroborides. The problem of the three-dimensional rotor is discussed in an appendix.
