Relative scale of free energy of transfer of anions from water to 1,2-dichloroethane

Abstract

Partition data for quaternary ammonium salts in the 1,2-dichloroethane + water system have been extrapolated to zero concentration to yield the true partition coefficients, P, of the electrolytes. The values of P were used to evaluate a relative scale of free energy of transfer of some anions from the aqueous phase to the organic phase. The values for transfer decrease in the order: F, Cl, Br, NO3, ClO3, I, SCN, ClO4, Ph4B.
