Formation of branched-chain, soluble polysaccharides from chitosan

Abstract

Attachment of lactose to the 2-amino functions of chitosan using sodium cyanoborohydride afforded a branched 1-deoxylactit-1-yl derivative which exhibited a range of interesting solution properties.
