Acidic and basic properties of mixed tin–antimony oxides
Abstract
The acidic and basic properties of a range of tin–antimony oxides have been determined by adsorption of pyridine and acetic acid, using a chromatographic method. The site concentrations vary with the tin to antimony ratio in the bulk composition and with temperature of calcination of the mixed oxides. The role of surface cation composition and of phase changes in influencing acidity and basicity is discussed and surface site structure is assigned.
