Asymmetric reduction of aromatic ketones by sodium borohydride in the presence of bovine serum albumin

Abstract

Bovine serum albumin was used to provide a chiral template for asymmetric reduction of aromatic ketones by the achiral NaBH4, and substantial (20–80%) enantiomeric excesses were obtained in the product alcohols.
