Polarized photochemistry and photo-orientation of pentacarbonylchromium in low-temperature matrices

Abstract

Plane-polarized light has been used to produce oriented [Cr(CO)5] in CH4 matrices, the symmetry of the 489nm transition of [Cr(CO)5] is determined, and photo-orientation is demonstrated for the first time.
