Electric dipole moments and molecular solute conformations of some trans-2-styryl-furans and -thiophens

Abstract

Electric dipole moments have been measured for trans-2-styryl-furansand-thiophens with 2′-,3′- and 4′-chloro- and -nitro-substituents, in benzene solution at 25°. The data obtained have been interpreted in terms of preferred conformations for these molecules.
