Infra-red cryogenic studies. Part 11.—Hydrogen iodide and HI complexes

Abstract

Infra-red spectra are reported of HI and DI in a range of matrices and in the solid phase at 20 K. A revised assignment of the multimer absorptions of hydrogen iodide in an argon matrix is presented. A detailed study of the interaction of hydrogen iodide with a range of alkenes and iodoalkanes in matrices has been carried out, the spectra being interpreted in terms of specific complexes.
