Crystal structures of complexes with zwitterionic ligands

Abstract

Crystal structure analysis of two copper(II) complexes of a betaine have shown that Cu(Me3NCH2–CO2)2(CIO4)2 contains a copper-copper bond, has bridging bidentate carboxy-groups, and both ionic and co-ordinated perchlorate, while Cu(Me3NCH2CO2)4(CIO4)2 is monomeric and has only ionic perchlorate.
